CANDIDATE PRE-REQUISITES

1. Minimum age 18.
2. Certified SDI Advanced Adventure Diver or equivalent; advanced certification must include verifiable experience in deep, navigation, night, and limited visibility specialties.
3. Certified SDI Rescue Diver or equivalent.
4. Provide proof of current First Response Adult and Child Emergency Care Provider and Oxygen Administration Provider (where local law permits) certification or equivalent. *
5. Provide proof of at least 40 logged dives

* Note: First Response courses may be combined with the SDI Divemaster course

Candidates must be able to do the following by the end of the course:

Swim 400m in less than 10 minutes
Snorkel 800m in less than 17 minutes
Tread water for 10 minutes

SCHEDULE

Course Breakdown

10 Hours of Academic Review
20 Hours Confined Water
20 Hours Open Water

Week 1: Skills Development and Watermanship
Week 2: Dive Leader Development
Week 3: Remediation (if necessary) and Internship (if Desired)

Daily Schedule:

– Morning: Pool Training and Skills Circuit

– Afternoon: Open Water Training

– Weekend: Internship with Local Boats

Full Breakdown Can Be Provided Upon Request. Candidates should budget 7-8 hours per day for this course.

QUALIFICATIONS AFTER GRADUATION

Upon successful graduation, all candidates will be able to teach the following courses:

Assist an active SDI Instructor during approved diving courses provided the activities are similar to the graduate’s prior training.
Supervise and conduct dives for certified divers and any specialized scuba diving activities that they have been trained in, provided the activities are similar to the graduate’s prior training.
Plan and execute emergency procedures appropriate for the diving environment and activities

Dive Experience Leader allowing candidates to conduct Discover SCUBA courses can be added to the Divemaster by choosing the Experience Plus Program Below.
